Not all shallots produce crispy fried onions. Learn why the Biru Lancor variety from Probolinggo excels and how it differs from other varieties.
In Indonesia, there are dozens of shallot varieties on the market — but not all produce quality fried onions. At Hunay, we only use one variety: Biru Lancor from Probolinggo.
Biru Lancor is a local shallot variety grown in the coastal lowlands of Probolinggo, East Java. The name "biru" refers to its purplish-blue skin color, while "lancor" means slender — describing its elongated bulb shape.

At Hunay, every batch uses 100% select Biru Lancor — no blending with other varieties. That is why our products are trusted for export to Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Singapore.
